I myself haven't seen all of FMA, but I know bits and pieces of what goes on in the end. It's scenes like the first episode (with the priest turning water to wine using alchemy) that make me tend to stay away from the show. But I agree with you totally on NGE. I read an article about it in AnimeInsider a while back, and it goes into detail about the last few episodes. It really turned me away, since it involves stories taken from books that weren't put into the Bible. The entire show has the theme of 'going against God'. If you look at the NERV logo, it has the verse 'God is in his heaven, all is right with the world.' It's a form of rebellion, as does many other aspects of the show. I can't go into too much detail without spoiling things, but that's the gist of it.

It's good to talk to someone about this sort of thing- I should drop by the Anime-Christian group more often! :P
